Located under Godangbong Summit of magnificent Geumjeongsan Mountain, Geumsaem Spring is said to have always been filled with water regardless of weather conditions and always glimmering in golden color. A holy fish geumeo (gold-colored fish) is believed to have swum there after descending from the sky riding a five-colored cloud. This fish is personified as Geumjeong’s character. ‘Geumjeong-i’ derived from the term geumeo in a legend represents the mystery and holiness of the fish. The basic concept of ‘Geumjeong-i’ is to express Geumjeong-gu as the guardian of its people.
