Geumjeongsan Mountain

Geumjeongsan Mountain, whose main peak (Godangbong Peak) is 801.5 m tall, is Busan’s major guardian mountain and Geumjeong-gu’s symbolic mountain. “Geumjeong” means “a golden (geum) fish came down from the sky on a colorful cloud and played in a well (jeong) perched on the ridge of the mountain.”

Geumjeongsanseong Fortress

Geumjeongsanseong Fortress is Korea’s longest fortress that measures 18,845 m long and 1.5–2 m tall, with a total area of approx. 8.2 km2. In great harmony with the beautiful mountain, the fortress has four main gates and a watchtower, serving as a popular shelter for hikers and visitors.

Beomeosa Temple

Beomeosa Temple was founded by Buddhist monk Uisang in 678, the 18th year of the reign of King Munmu (30th king of Silla Dynasty), to protect the country from Japanese raiders. The current building was rebuilt in 1613 (5th year of King Gwanghaegun’s reign of Joseon Dynasty). Along with Tongdosa Temple and Haeinsa Temple, Beomeosa Temple is one of the three greatest temples in the southern region of Korea.
